Muriel Orcutt on violin and Terry Timmerman on cello will be performing in Baker Free Library’s 2nd Annual Spring Concert, featuring a selection of Irish and classical tunes.

About the Performers:

Muriel Orcutt
    
Muriel Orcutt was born in France and started playing Piano at the age of 5 and violin at the age of 8. She competed in Paris from 8 years old on. She was awarded a second prize in violin from “l’Ecole de Musique de Paris”, and a first prize in violin and chamber Music from “the Conservatiore de Bordeaux”. She studied with Raphael Hyllier at the American University where she obtained a Bachelor of Music degree. She was a violin professor at the “Conservatoire de Pau” in France and also played in their professional chamber Orchestra along with the Bordeaux Symphony Orchestra.. When she came back to the U.S.,  she obtained a Master’s of Music degree from the University of NH.

     Muriel started the Goffstown School District string program in 2001 which has grown exponentially and recently retired from public school teaching. She is the principal second violinist with the Lake Region Symphony Orchestra and the 2d violinist of the Lake Region  string quartet. She also plays with the NH Fiddle Ensemble since its creation in 2008 along with other music organizations and choral groups. She also was the string council chair of the NHMEA for six years. She has been an active member of the NHASTA since 1980.

     During the summer of 2017, Muriel attended Carnegie Hall Music Education Institute and performed John Adams “Short Ride to a fast Machine” in Times Square under the baton of Marin Alsop. In the summer of  2018, Muriel  taught staff and students in the summer music  program in Carrefour Haiti.

 

Terry Timmerman
    Terry Timmerman began playing the cello in middle school in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory in Berea, Ohio with a Bachelor of Music degree. She then studied at Notre Dame University where she received a Master's degree in cello performance and literature. Terry has played cello with the Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra since 2004 as assistant and principal cellist. She also has performed with various string groups in the New Hampshire area. As a full time business owner, Terry also teaches cello in her home in Concord, NH
